CBR Demo Search Ideas
Single Sounds
When picking single sounds,
some searches return more interesting results than others.
With the default settings (that is, without ignoring
duration, pitch, or loudness), try:
- animals/chickenCoop.
Note the other animal sounds.
- mcgill/oboe/oboe21 (or any of the oboe sounds).
Many of the other oboe sounds as well as some
similar alto trombone sounds are near the top.
- laughter/laughterYoungMale.
Note the other laughter sounds that are found, as well
as the fact that dogsBark and chickenCoop2 are near
the top.
- animals/kitten.
The telephone touch-tone sounds are similar in that
they consist of sounds separated by silence.
- mcgill/percussion/agogo1.
The sounds that are found have a similar percussive attack.
- speech/female/female1.branch (or other speech sounds)
Other speech sounds are found.
Multiple Sounds
To get meaningful results when selecting a group of sounds,
it's important to pick sounds that share similar audio
characteristics.
With the default settings (that is, without ignoring duration, pitch, or loudness),
try the following:
- Select a few of the speech sounds--say, four or five of one speaker.
Note that the other speech sounds are placed near the top.
- Select a group of oboe sounds.
Many of the other oboe sounds are found, as well as some
similar-sounding sustained (non-percussive) instruments.
- Choose four or five of the laughter sounds.
Note the other laughter sounds that are found, as well
as the fact that dogsBark2 will typically come near the top.
- Select several of the touchtone telephone sounds.
All the touchtone sounds should appear near the top.
- Select several violin pizzicato sounds.
More pizzicato sounds should be found, along with some percussion sounds.
